And now back to our regularly scheduled broadcast...
Well it's been a month since my last "real" posting.
A lot has taken place in the past few weeks so let me catch you up to speed. First, my landlord found out about my boxer, McKenzie. She weighs around 50 pounds, which exceeds the 30 pound limit on dogs in my apartment. We were given an option to pay the remainder of our lease (over $3000.00) or get rid of her.
Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of money. If I did, I wouldn't be renting an apartment. So after much anxiety, we donated McKenzie to the Ohio Boxer Rescue. I am not happy about this, but I know that someone will adopt her and she will be fine.
Second on my list of issues is an anniversary. This Friday, May 21 is the 9 year anniversary of my mother's death. Although several years has passed, the pain and sorrow lingers. My mother battled cancer for 6 years, succumbing only after it consumed most of her internal organs. I was what you would call a "momma's boy". I guess I have never really "dealt" with this. I will probably never "get over" losing her.
The other thing taking up much of my emotional and physical time is the POMO outreach I am trying to get started at my church. If you are unsure of the meaning behind "Pomo" read any of the other essays posted to the bottom left of this page. It's basically an outreach to post-modern adults, a way of connecting them in a way that has never been provided before. For many adults, the Christianity as they have known it has never really resonated with them. I pray that this opportunity will provide a way of helping. I pray daily that the leadership team at my church will move on this, as I fear we are losing vital time.
Keep praying for me, my wife, my family, and my church. |
